Who We Are

It started with three Moms and a need.

1987 - Today

When Anne, Patty, and Karen began meeting with their 6 children in 1987, they had no intention of creating what is now Home on the Rock. In an era when homeschooling was uncommon, these mothers collaboratively decided to offer their children an opportunity to learn alongside peers.

As more families learned about this weekly gathering, the group began to grow until it no longer fit in a living room. They soon moved their meetings to The Naz, in Grove City, and Home on the Rock was born.

"I don't think any of us ever envisioned that HOTR would still be going strong over 40 years later."

In 1992, leadership changed hands, as some of the original families moved on from HOTR. In 1993, the Chairman of the HOTR suddenly had to step back and, two weeks before the start of fall classes, a brand new Chairman took her place. At the time, 35-40 families were gathering for the Enrichment Program.

Over the next ten years, HOTR grew to a staggering 200 families. During this time, the organization went through the process of becoming an official 501.c.3 tax-exempt non-profit organization.

In 40+ years, HOTR has served hundreds of families, had 450+ graduates honored at the graduation ceremony, and launched numerous EPs and clubs. Over 20 parents volunteer to oversee the various programs within the organization, with over 100 other parents volunteering at every single event.

HOTR has also been blessed with support from a variety of local churches, including The Naz, Hope Baptist Church, Amazing Grace, The Grove Church, Westside Church of God, St. John's Lutheran Church, Columbus West Church of God, and First Baptist Church of Grove City.
