Getting Started
Home education is an adventure, and beginning to home educate is like going on a journey. Here are some steps to make your journey more pleasant:
Join a local Support Group
To find out about support groups in your area, contact Christian Home Educators of Ohio to be put in touch with your local CHEO representative who can direct you to groups in your area.
Complete your notification form
Copies of the form may be obtained from CHEO, your local support group leader, or by clicking here. Keep a copy of your entire notification packet, and send the original to the superintendent by certified mail (return receipt requested).
Attend a homeschool convention
There are two conventions offered annually in Ohio — one in mid-spring and one in late June. Both offer informative workshops and a large ven dor hall display where attendees can view curricula.
CHEO (Christian Home Educators of Ohio) Convention, held annually in late June. For information visit the CHEO website.
Midwest Homeschool Convention in Cincinnati, held annually in mid-spring. For information visit the Midwest Homeschool Convention website.
Join Home School Legal Defense Association. HSLDA supports and defends our freedom to home educate. Their website is an excellent source of information for both new and experienced home educators. HSLDA website
